Response Question 2

Q To develop expertise on your topic from a number of points of view, and to summarize and critique academic work, and build an intellectual foundation for your final project, choose: • a minimum of three articles (electronic and/or RESEARCHED JOURNAL printed media) related to your interest area—at least one from a source that has a supportive position relative to your topic and at least one from a source that has an opposing position relative to your topic. The third article can be background information on your topic or you can provide an additional supporting/opposing viewpoint article. Using a popular magazine (People, Newsweek, Time, local newspaper), chat web, blog or wikipedia is not considered scholarly research sources. Utilizing these resources will result in 0 for your response paper. IF YOU ARE EXPANDING A TOPIC COVERED IN A PREVIOUS COURSE, YOU MAY NOT USE THE SAME RESEARCH/RESOURCE MATERIAL FROM THAT COURSE. IT MUST BE ORIGINAL RESEARCH - TO USE A PREVIOUS RESOURCE IS PLAGIARISM AND WILL RESULT IN A 'F' FOR THE ENTIRE COURSE. If there is a question, let me know. Using the following guidelines: 1. Identify your Research Question (established in Response #1). 2. Clearly provide a summary of the article and author(s) assumptions - for viewpoints, how is the information presented from each viewpoint? Be sure to identify if the article as pro/con of your topic (not your personal position on the topic) 3. Provide your critique including at least one pro and con of each article viewpoint 4. Provide a summary of whether this gives you a different perspective to consider for your stated viewpoint in Response #1 Be sure to include APA citations in-text and in a Reference Page. In reading and grading your paper, I will want to see that you have covered each of these questions sufficiently and effectively. If you have any questions, I encourage you to contact the librarian liaison for CST, Jenny Dale (jedale2@uncg.edu) and/or http://uncg.libguides.com/CST315 (Links to an external site.).
